Lyre’s Dry London Spirit

Lyre's Dry London Spirit left a lot to be desired.

Typically when opening a bottle of London Dry, there is a wonderful aroma of botanicals, primarily juniper. Lyre's Dry London delivered none of that. In the glass, the nose was subtle to the point of being weak. I had to bury my nose in the glass where I got a hint of citrus. Not unpleasant, but more along a New Western style gin than a London Dry.

In the mouth, there was ... almost nothing. It tasted like that bottle of gin in the back of your Nana's liquor cabinet that you've been secretly nipping from for 20 years and replacing with water. There was a faint, gin-like flavour in there somewhere, but it was mostly water.

Lyre's Dry London was completely lost when combined with a mixer. It just made the mixer taste watered down.

As someone who enjoys the traditional dry London style gin, Lyre's is the best I've tasted of the non-alcohol varieties.
