Noughty wines by Thomson & Scott: best alcohol-free bubbles!

by Clear Head Drinks

Since March is B Corp month and Thomson & Scott are another great B Corp certified beverage company, we thought it was a timely opportunity to highlight their fabulous Noughty range of alcohol-free sparkling wines.  Having recently celebrated International Women’s Day, we're also continuing that vibe as Thomson & Scott happens to be founded and lead by one game-changing woman, Amanda Thomson.

What’s so special about Noughty alcohol-free sparkling wines?

In Amanda’s mission to find the purest ingredients and create premium wines free from unnecessary ingredients, added sugar, nasty chemicals and animal by-products, Thomson & Scott have brought to market an exceptional range of alcohol-free sparkling wines.  Their Noughty wines are certified organic, vegan, halal, are low in sugar and calories, and at 0.05%ABV, they're also alcohol-free!

What’s even better is that being B Corp certified (which basically means they have met rigorous social and environmental standards that represent their commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit), Thomson & Scott have made these products sustainably, with truth and transparency throughout. They also partner with Treepoints to offset the carbon footprint of every wine purchased, supporting a more sustainable future for our planet 🌱

You may find it hard to believe that all these things can be found in one product - but it’s true!  Don’t just take our word for it though, check out what our independent taste tester said about these alcohol-free sparkling wines, or order some and see for yourself.  We're pretty sure you won’t be disappointed, the 5 star reviews speak for themselves!

Noughty Organic Sparkling Chardonnay - Review

This is by far the best alcohol-free sparkling wine I have ever had, and to be honest I think it would be hard to beat!  It looks, smells, and tastes like the real deal – and I’m not just meaning it tastes like any old sparkling wine you would buy at the supermarket, I mean, this brings me back to sampling the good stuff in the French region of Epernay – actual Champagne. It carries that almost creamy mouthfeel you get with a good Champagne, along with a divine aroma of honey and dry crisp apple flavour which is all just delightful.  It’s very smooth and easy to drink, so be warned, you’re likely to polish off the entire bottle without any trouble!
One thing that has surprised me about this wine is that it looks, smells, and tastes so much like Champagne, yet it doesn’t contain any ‘alcohol mimicking’ ingredients. While many alcohol-free drinks try to replace the slight burn or warmth you get from alcohol with something that mimics it, this wine doesn’t. That may be a big advantage for some consumers (including those who don’t like alcohol of course), but others may worry they’ll miss it.  However, my take is that this wine is perfect as it is, the quality and depth of flavour means it can hold its own without the need to ‘fake’ anything.  It’s simply pure and delicious.
This wine is going to be my new go-to drink of choice for any celebratory occasion and gives me back that excitement you get from popping a bottle of bubbles with friends.  As my good (non-sober) friend said when she gave it a try – “it’s very convincing!”  It really is, and I think her words summed it up well.

Noughty Organic Sparkling Rose - Review

Ok, so I know I just raved on about the sparkling Chardonnay, but next I tried the Rose and honestly it just got better! I didn't think it would be possible but in my humble opinion, this sparkling Rose tops the lot. It has a delicious berry and crisp apple flavour with a full creamy mouthfeel. The flavours linger long after each sip, giving you a truly satisfying experience. It’s ever so slightly sweeter than the sparkling Chardonnay, but still wonderfully dry. I got so excited and distracted by how delicious this wine was that I totally burnt my dinner - a first since going alcohol-free!

This leaves just one question: which Noughty wine should you try first?

Ultimately, it's going to come down to your flavour preferences and what option the occasion calls for.  Wedding or any formal celebration? Go with the Chardonnay.  Birthday celebration or a get-together with friends? Try the Rose. Either way, you can’t go wrong with these delicious alcohol-free sparkling wines from Thomson & Scott.
